    Hello! I have a flat roof with a white tarp-like covering that was put over. It's stopped the leak inside the home but water still gathers in the area. Could I use any of your products to raise the roof up a tiny bit in the area while also providing an extra seal from water?

    I think they missed the most crucial step. Since the old membrane is left ln place, that membrane should had been prepared and sealed to the drain bowl. For when their product cracks at the drain ring in about seven to ten years. Unless a maintenance program is in place.

    • @Surecoatsystems
      @Surecoatsystems 5 месяцев назад

      We also recommend a maintenance program to our customers, however this product will not crack due to weathering

    • @Surecoatsystems
      @Surecoatsystems 5 месяцев назад

      Coverage rate depends on a number of things: substrate, condition of substrate, will mesh be embedded, will it be rolled or sprayed? Typically a 5 gallon pail will cover 100-125SF as a system (mesh embedded)

    He’s not raising the area with ponding water. He simply applied one layer even extending it outside of the area with ponding water. It may stop the leak but not the ponding. To stop the ponding he needs to raise and level off the deeper spot with the higher one.

    Not a fan of elastomerics but for some roofs that don't really need to extend their service life i guess it is an OK fix. Our roofing company has used pretty much everything out there over the last 25 years. We use only one products after 8 years of success and not callbacks. There is a Liquid butyl rubber made by epdmcoatings. What we like about it is that it does not need a primer for any of the roof types we have applied it over that goes for metal, BUR, epdm, foam but NOT silicone. also it is a one coat application so we close much more business with this product because we come in as the lowest bid! It is a solvent product so primarily the reason it last all the years. Cheers

    If this product is placed on a sloping roof is fabric mesh required? I guess if the roof is more horizontal then the fabric mesh will prolong the life of the product. Also can the fabric mesh interfere with vapor permeability?

    Unfortunately, in my experience, it is very rare to see a proper solution applied. Flat roofs seem to be prohibitively expensive to service and in my area it is absolutely the contractors inflating the pricing making it almost no choice for building owners to opt for an actual permanent solution.

  • @redbaroncarwash
    @redbaroncarwash 2 года назад

    That roof failure is not the fault of the system, it is the fault of the installer. Chopped fiberglass emulsion roofing should be a minimum of 72 DFT, and that roof is nowhere near that spec. If there is a weakness with that particular roofing system it is because it should go down 144 mil thick, which looks like way too much when you're spraying it on, and consequently it usually gets installed too thin - it is 50% water and when it cures out half the thickness is gone.

    • @Surecoatsystems
      @Surecoatsystems 2 года назад

      Our coating is designed with marine resins so in the unlikelihood of the water being 2' deep and ponding for 2 weeks it would not penetrate or break down the coating.

    Putting any coatings in a heavily ponding area is not a good idea if your looking for a long-term fix. A properly Installed silicone may last for years. Anything else maybe a few years if your lucky

    • @Surecoatsystems
      @Surecoatsystems 2 года назад

      Thanks for your opinion, however our coatings are engineered with marine resins which will stand up to ponding water for 10+ years and can be recoated to extend that time frame. Unlike Silicones our product can be used as a repair and continued on to complete the entire roof, Silicones have poor bondability with all substrates including other Silicones.
